Hey guys/gals, just wondering who had this game & what your opinions of the game are :D

In my honest Opinion, the game is great but to be blunt, it looks like a next gen version of Deus Ex with a different name on it.

Also I'm not sure if it's just me / my console but I've come across the following bugs.

Occasionally the following bugs pop up,
Texture draw lag
Console not going into the Dashboard or shutting down properly.
Both bugs are only showing up after extended game sessions so I'm thinking there's a memory leak somewhere in the game.
courser/unit occasionally moving up on their own without user input :S

But a bit about the game. it's a squad based first person shooter that allows you to decide in great detail how your character evolves such as being able to use kenetic abilities intimidation / charm to get a convo going better for you

The game is Rated M mostly for violence and language with brief nudity. :P gotta appease the censors & put the "Brief nudity" in there since it shows the side of a butt & boob, as well as a bit of sexual reference, but that's only if you properly unlock it in the storyline.

The game is roughly 30hrs long following the "Good" path & doing all the sidequests, but you can go the evil route as well & anywhere inbetween.

Pyro, I've had similar texture lag, but it seems to happen just about every time the camera drastically shifts focus... including cutscene events, which is puzzling. I guess the idea was to minimize framerate drops, but it ends up looking just as sloppy.

Once they do get drawn, though, the graphics are pretty stunningly gorgeous. The only gripe I have is that while all the alien races look frankly fantastic, the humans all tend to look like they just came off the plastic mold, which is a little disconcerting. I had the same gripe with Assassin's Creed and Bioshock, though.

Now here's the main question. anyone hear about the content downloads for the game between releases of sequels?

no kidding, dork? how's that possible?

Not to pry, but I just bought a PS3, meaning I have all the systems now, and I work in a hotel. Is there a budgeting issue, or does TV not pay as well as I'm imagining?

lol hell the love scene is just a tease to begin with between the guy & blue girl. I'm going after Ashley this time through :) next time through I'll try creating a female lead character.

Dork, if there was anything in the history of the world to justify credit card debt, it would be an Xbox 360. The last three months have seen some amazing games come out for it -- Bioshock, Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare, Rock Band, and Mass Effect, just to mention some of the highlights -- and you would be cheating yourself as a gamer if you didn't get one in the near future. Especially now that they've fixed the reliability problems with a new CPU.

Seriously, get one.

Honestly I'm surprised they haven't tried getting WoW onto the 360.

Blerg people need to start coding the games better. Mass Effect doesn't have a sanity check to see if there's a Hard Drive on the rig, it just assumes there isn't one & reads everything from DVD instead of checking if there's a HD & caching textures to it.

Dork, it's good to go. hey M$ only said they had to make it work for systems without the HD, they never said anything about they can't make it work better with the HD :)

The new systems have the 65nm which run cooler so red rings have dropped off a bit. All systems have a 3 year warranty because of the rings so now would be the time to buy unless they plan on 45nm in the near future..

Since some absurd amount of the RRoD incidents had to do with the hotter internals than the ones that are currently on store shelves, you're almost certainly good to go, Dork.

Also, the new models (not just the Elite anymore) have HDMI out. Schwing!

Oh and... I, too, just bought a PS3, and now own every next-gen system. Huzzah!

Its Microsoft. What do you expect dork? But yea the 65nm run cooler so rrod is less likely.

Edit: I have to ask why a PS3? It sounds like MGS4 might be the last 3rd Party exclusive. It's little more than a Blu-Ray player.

They're not as numerous as on the other consoles, but there are definitely gems in the PS3 lineup that I wanted to be able to play... Folklore, Ratchet & Clank, Uncharted, Eye of Judgment, etc. All the systems have their strengths and weaknesses... currently the 360 has the strongest lineup in terms of sheer number of games, Wii's got the notoriety that comes with being perpetually sold out for a year and some stunning 1st party offerings, and the PS3 mostly has future potential going for it. In the meantime, though, I'm content to watch movies on it and play online card games with it.

I have Folklore and it's pretty good. Blu-ray is awesome on it, makes dvd look like vhs. My next purchase is going to be the HD-DVD attachment for the 360, cause Paramount is HD exclusive and that sucks to only have half the lineup availible.

Dork, dont think MS dropped the ball by not including HD, think that they made it easier for the everyman to buy by sectioning it off into peripherals. Dont need to save your game? skip the hard drive. Dont have a HDTV, dont worry bout the player. Saves you money and gets it in your hands quicker by needing to save up less.

I think the fight between Sony and Microsoft is not Blu-Ray vs. HD-DVD, but rather Blu-Ray vs. Xbox Live. M$ took a huge chance by making online such a big part of all their games, and it seems to be paying off. Sony and (especially) Nintendo don't have anything like Xbox Live, and I think that's going to hurt them both in the long run. There's just something about being able to chat over the net with Verc while he's playing Assassin's Creed and I'm shooting people up on Call of Duty IV.

So, not sure you're going to be seeing any HD-DVD games on the Xbox 360 at all - despite Sony bragging about how Blu-Ray was going to change gaming, I haven't seen a PS3 game yet which uses the extra capacity in any meaningful way. Development costs seem to be preventing games from being that big, so M$ seems to have hit the gaming sweet spot.

And oh yeah, the Wii owns face!

Alech, there's been a difference in the Blue Ray Disks lol Bethesta needed to repeat code wasting space on the disk to keep the access time down for Oblivion. From what I see so far the only true reason to get a PS3 is for a semi decent cheap Blue-Ray player.

The Wii has an upside! :D All Hail Virtual Console games.

oh & Sony FTL after removing the PS2 Hardware from the system to cut costs & go all emulation for reverse compatibility.
