As some of you will have seen, Twitch has sold their addon updating to Overwolf.  Eventually, the Twitch client won't update addons for you, something from Overwolf will.  It's still being developed, so no one knows what it will look like, but there is a lot of unhappiness with other things that Overwolf has done in the past.

I have seen two other programs for updating addons: if you are willing to just use the ones on WoWInterface (which is most of the popular ones), they have an addon management program called Minion that you can find on their web site.

If you want to stick to CurseForge, in addition to whatever Overwolf brings out there is CurseBreaker:

I have not used it yet myself, I'm going to wait and see what Overwolf brings out...but I am tempted.  )

It looks like the Overwolf people are planning on taking over later in October.  I've been testing two different addon managers, each works.  One important note:  both of these are developed by individuals/small groups, which means they haven't paid for the security certificate for their stuff.  So, many security systems will object and tell you it's an unknown publisher, and not to trust the addons.  To install them, you'll need to click the appropriate buttons to say "run anyway."  Both addons have the nice feature of updating from both Curse and WowInterface, both are working on adding additional features to back up your WTF folders and check for updates to WeakAuras scripts you may be using.

https://wowup.io/

is the one I've been using more because it has a quick click to get to the page for the addon so I can see the change log.  It also has a very easy updater once installed.  However, it does not yet have a Mac client.  It's the same guy that does raider.io, so if that offends you, you might not want to run it, I just think it means he'll stick with development.

https://github.com/casperstorm/ajour

is the other one I've tried out.  It has a Mac client (which worked when I tested it).  I've linked the main page for it, follow the link on that page to where the executable lives if you don't want to download it and compile it yourself (for ease of use: https://github.com/casperstorm/ajour/releases )

I didn't like the display quite as much, although it's all functional.  It is also very lightweight, although that doesn't much matter with modern computers.  It's very actively being developed, new features added/fixed every couple of days.

Do note, if you run both of them, they can confuse each other (not realizing the other has done an update already).  That's not a big problem most of the time.

There are quite a few others.  Here's a link to a listing of them:

I did find it interesting that the recent MMO-Champion highlight of addon managers chose the same 2 I'd been trying out.  There is a newer one I have not tried yet, https://singularitymods.com/

Overwolf seems kind of nasty from what I've read. They put an overlay over games' loading screens with ads and videos and whatnot.  I downloaded wowup and it seems fine, for now at least unless Overwolf does some

shenanigans with the Curseforge website / repository.

Yeah, Overwolf's recent blog post/stance about that was...disconcerting.  The two managers I mentioned draw from both Curse and WowInterface, so it all depends on whether or not addon authors post on both sites, if Overwolf does something to lock other managers out.

Just a note--the version 2.0 of WowUp now has a Mac client.  I haven't tried it yet, but everything else he's done has worked...
