So I dropped out of the raid the other week due to a system crash. My UPS decided to go haywire on me and powered off my PC. When I was able to get it working again and powered back up, no OS found. After some troubleshooting, I found my SSD was trashed. Wasn't accessible at all.
While this might have been a tragic accident, I could have avoided it. I had received some errors for a while and just ignored them as cloning the OS drive was a pain and I didn't want to bother. I even had the replacement sitting on my desk and should have swapped it out sooner. Just a few bad sectors between friends is OK, right? Well, it killed the drive.
Lesson learned and now I'm in the process of re-installing the OS and dealing with restoring backups.
Sigh. Back online soon.
Ouch, Trill.
Hm. What is the date on my last backup?
Yikes that is a pain. Hopefully your backups are viable, and haven't been paid a visit by Cookie Monster...
midget pron'll do that to your hard drive...
