Raiding Rules and Officer Expectations

Raiding Rules:
The following rules below are designed to provide clarity and understanding about what is expected from each and every Initiate, Member, and Officer of Trivial. The rules apply both during raids and outside of them. These rules are subject to change as the High Council sees fit.

Raid Times: Tuesday and Wednesday from 6:30pm -10:30pm PST. Friday from 7:00pm - 10:00pm PST. Sign-ups through the in-game calendar.

*Update 4/08 Progression Raid Requirements
In addition to the rules given below, for Progression raids all raiders are required to use consumables--Flasks or equivalent Elixirs as well as stat-increasing food. If you are not sure about which consumables are appropriate for you, please ask your class leaders. Progression raids are "new" content for the guild. Bosses are typically moved to "farm" status after they have been killed 3 times, one of them a one-shot. If you are uncertain as to whether a raid is "Progression" or "Farm" ask the raid leader. Consumables are optional on "Farm" raids.

Required Software:
If you need help installing any of these addons, please ask either on the forums or in guild chat.

  • We now use the in-game system for voice.  Mostly we use the guild voice channel, so that people who log on late can join and listen in to see where we are.  If you have difficulty using it see this thread:

           https://www.trivial-guild.com/forums/general/public-discussion/15312764349177

  • To have the ora3 mod installed and placed in the following location: \\World of Warcraft\\Interface\\AddOns. It is expected for each Trivial member to update this module to the latest version whenever a new version comes out.

    oRA3 is available from http://wow.curse.com/downloads/wow-addons/details/ora3.aspx

    SimpleTankFrames is available from http://wow.curse.com/downloads/wow-addons/details/simpletankframes.aspx
    • To have a threat meter installed in the following location: \\World of Warcraft\\Interface\\AddOns. It is expected for each Trivial member to update this module to the latest version whenever a new version comes out. Trivial uses the Omen threat meter.

      Omen (Ace2): http://www.curse.com

    Suggested Software:

    • A "Boss Mods" package that will give you warnings when bosses do their special abilities during an encounter. There are two that are used by different people in the guild. BigWigs is the Ace2 version, and may have more accurate timers. Deadly Boss Mods has more timers for different events. Whichever one you use, please the various notification settings at their default of _not_ notifying the raid unless requested to change them by the raid leader.

      BigWigs is available at http://www.curse.com

      DeadlyBossMods is available at http://www.deadlybossmods.com/

Note: only run one of the packages, don't run both.

    • Most classes have suggested addons that help with raiding. Check your class forum for required/suggested addons. In particular, healers and decursers should look for the latest suggested addons.

Before and During the Raid Rules:

    • To commit as much time as you can to see the raid through from start to finish. We understand that real life emergencies may come up during the raid, and that these emergencies would not count negatively against you. Abuse of the real life emergency exception will be dealt with accordingly.

    • To either say in Vent, or Type in Raid chat when you need to go "AFK" (Away From Keyboard) so the raid is aware and can plan accordingly. Unless announced by the Raid Leader, going "AFK" many times during a raid will count negatively against you and be dealt with accordingly.

    • To keep Vent chatter clear during a Boss fight so the Raid Leader or Key Players in a fight can provide verbal updates.

    • To be aware "Before the Raid" what your earned DKP total is for bidding on items dropped during the raid. Exception to this would be a verbal notification that DKP has been updated during a raid.

    • To follow all instructions given by the Raid Leader, Master Looter, or Role Captain during a raid.

    • To come to a raid "Ready to Go". This means:
      • No damaged Gear
      • You are stocked up on reagents "as best you can" so it will not disrupt the raid.
      • You are in the proper Vent Channel
      • All software mentioned above is active and ready for the raid

    • To act and behave in a professional or friendly manner so it will not ruin the game playing experience for anyone else. This means that all people in Trivial (Initiate or Member) will adhere to this rule as well as the "Code of Conduct". Failure to follow this rule as well as the "Code of Conduct" will result in disciplinary action.

    Officer Expectations:
The purpose of the following expectations below are designed to provide guidance for new and current officers of "Trivial". These expectations below are subject to change as the High Council sees fit. If you are unable to perform these voluntary duties for an extended period of time, please communicate with the Raid Leader and the High Council.

    Role Captain Expectations:

    • To learn and execute the process of accepting members of their assigned raid role to raids through the in-game guild's calendar (never change a raider from "confirmed" to some other state without communication with the raider).

    • Establish no later than 24 hours before a raid which raiders are confirmed; work with the other Role Captains and the Raid Leader to adjust raid composition as necessary.

    • To keep track of each member of the raid role for which you are the Captain as you accept them to raids. The purpose of this is to rotate in and out "in a fair way" all members with the same raid role so that DKP can be earned by all. Favoritism or abuse of the rotation system will begin discipline by the High Council.

    • To communicate with the Raid Leader and the other officers to help assess raiding capabilities and special needs.

    • To monitor raid attendance of the members of your assigned raid role.
      • To be aware of recruitment needs.

      • To "Lead by Example" while holding the position as Role Captain, this means:
        • No criticizing the members of "Trivial" in Guild Chat, Ventrilo, or Raid Chat. If you need to correct a member of your class, you will do it through Whisper only.
        • Show that you work well with other officers in cooperation
        • Cursing in Guild Chat, Vent, or Raid Chat is highly discouraged and only shows that you expect the members of your class to do the same as they see fit. It is understood that cursing may occur out of frustration, but abuse of this will begin discipline by the High Council.
        • Promote fairness and understanding with ALL guild members so everyone can continue to "Enjoy the Game".

      • To follow any requests by High Council that involves your position as a Role Captain

    Officer at Large Expectations

Officers at Large are officers of the guild that have been asked to help with the business and guidance of the guild. Their duties are to the guild as a whole, rather than to a particular area of responsibility. They may be asked to fulfill a Role Captain or High Council position as the need arises.

    • To greet guild members when you can to let them know they feel welcomed.

    • To be knowledgeable about special quest items, gear, quests, and the mechanics of WoW and be willing to help guild members with this knowledge.

    • To support the other officers with knowledge they may have about specific classes or specs when they need assistance with guild members.

    • To be available to help Role Captains with their assessment of raiders' performance, raid rotations, gear and skill sets.

    • To use the Forums section of the guild's website to:
      • Educate guildies on "What gear to look for" or "How to best play your class" or "Fun things to do"
      • General communication.

    • To "Lead by Example" while holding the position of Officer at Large, this means:
      • No criticizing the members of "Trivial" in Guild Chat, Ventrilo, or Raid Chat. If you need to correct a member of your class, you will do it through Whisper only.
      • Promote fairness and understanding with ALL guild members so everyone can continue to "Enjoy the Game".
      • Show that you work well with other officers in cooperation.
      • Cursing in Guild Chat, Vent, or Raid Chat is highly discouraged and only shows that you accept the members of your class to do the same as they see fit. It is understood that cursing may occur out of frustration, but abuse of this will begin discipline by the High Council

    • To follow any requests by the HC.

High Council Expectations:

  • Make Decisions in a timely manner.
  • Create and attend an Officer Meeting when necessary.
  • Create and attend a HC meeting every 3 months to review every officer and make changes when they see fit.

  • Assist the guild in an aspect of daily/weekly operations (Ex.: Dkp Tracking, Guild Bank Assistance, Assisting in Raids, etc.).
